  1.  Issue another stop action via the EC2 console, and choose the option to forcefully stop the instance.
  2.  Create an AMI image of the instance, and choose the option to take the image without restarting the instance.
  3.  Edit the instance properties and increase the instance size.
  4.  Contact AWS support. Any further actions could corrupt the file system.
